Vijay 69 Movie Review {3.0/5} & Review Rating
Star Cast: Anupam Kher, Mihir Ahuja
Director: Akshay Roy
Vijay 69 Movie Review Summary:
victory 69 The story of an extraordinary man. 69 year old Vijay Mathew lives alone in Victoria Society, Mumbai. He was once a swimming coach and lost his wife Anna (Ekavali) to cancer 15 years ago. Due to a certain incident, he suddenly realizes that he has not done anything important in life.
Therefore, he starts looking for a purpose. One day, he learns that 18-year-old Aditya Jaiswal (Mihir Ahuja), who lives in the same colony, is set to become India’s youngest person to participate in a triathlon. Vijay did research and realized that if he also participated in this race, he would become the oldest person in India to complete a triathlon.
So, Vijay applies for it and after some hurdles, his application is accepted. However, she will have to train extensively for the triathlon as it involves 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running. Vijay’s daughter Deeksha (Sulagna Panigrahi) is against the idea. Moreover, due to the politics of the society, there is also a possibility that Vijay may drop out of the race. What happens next forms the rest of the film.
Vijay 69 Movie Story Review:
Akshay Roy’s story is simple. Akshay Roy’s script is well written and thought out. Akshay Roy’s dialogues (additional dialogues by Abbas Tyrewala) are hilarious and creative.
Akshay Roy’s direction is clean. He keeps the tone of the film light and also makes sure that what is going on is relevant, especially for senior citizens. He also keeps the duration under control and packs a lot into just 112 minutes. Vijay’s track, of course, takes the cake, but the bond shared by Vijay and Aditya works too. The intro scene is quite funny. However, Akshay saves the best for the last 15 minutes. Nobody knows what will happen, but not how it will happen. In this regard, the director succeeds and will even bring tears to the eyes of the audience.
On the other hand, not all jokes work. The scene where Vijay jumps into the swimming pool while fighting with his parents and when he is asked to go for medical examination is not a laughing matter. The whole Vijay vs Aditya clash is an interesting idea on paper but looks quite childish on screen. Apart from this, there are too many abuses in the dialogues. So, keep this in mind as from the trailer it looks like it is a clean family entertainer.
Vijay 69 Movie Review Performance:
Anupam Kher Gives great performance. A role like this requires a lot emotionally and physically and Anupam gives his all for the role. He is excellent in the training scenes, but keep an eye on him in the scenes where he gets emotional.
chunky pandey (Dr. Fali Bathena) is a bit over the top but it works for his role and he does it efficiently. Mihir Ahuja, who rose to fame towith The Archies, has made a big impression. He has an important role and will definitely be given attention. Guddi Maruthi (Parminder Bakshi), Ekavali and Sulagna Panigrahi leave a big impression. Adrija Sinha (Roohi; Content Creator) is impartial. Dharmendra Gohil (Aakash; Aditya’s father) and Sanand Verma (corrupt journalist) are quite good in their respective roles. Ketika Sharma (Malti) is lovely.
Jiten Mukhi (Vivek Sagar), Paritosh Sand (Ranjeet Kumar; who helps Vijay in the Triathlon Association of India), Abhay Joshi (Sunil Saxena), Ravish Desai (Abhimanyu; Deeksha’s husband) and Ayaan Hassan Ali Khan (Akhil; Diksha’s son) is decent. Kunal Vijaykar (Kishore) and Ashwin Mushran (Awake) have been devastated.
Vijay 69 Film Music and Other Technical Aspects:
Vijay 69 is a song-less film. However, the song ‘Don’t you go further?’ WAQT (1965) is used appropriately in the film and adds to the effect. Gaurav Chatterjee’s background score is as light as the tone of the film.
Sahil Bhardwaj’s cinematography suits the Mumbai scenes and is quite breathtaking in the climax. Meenal Aggarwal’s production design and Darshan Jalan and Manish Tewari’s costumes are realistic. Sunil Rodrigues’ action is impressive. Manas Mittal’s editing is satisfactory.
Vijay 69 Movie Review Conclusion:
Overall, Vijay 69 is a light-hearted inspirational story that works because of the relatability factor, Anupam Kher’s amazing performance and an emotional climax.
